there's nothing to do

Winkwing responds:

If you had read the description properly, you would release that yes there is nothing to do as this is far from finished and is only a tiny proof of concept.

Please read, it really does help in the long run.
Hoping to add the first few enemies and actual fun game mechanics by tomorrow or so.

cool ost and cool art, I dont find the gameplay interesting.

PopStrikers responds:

Bummer. Glad you dug the aesthetic at least xD

Is the game just not your genre, or is there something more specific that isn't working for you? If you could DM me some more info, I'd welcome some constructive feedback to help improve the final game!

if you zoom in far enough then it just becomes pixelated. I assume this is just a limitation of the algorithm youre using because the image file would still have to be huge. colors are nice though.

Aardwolf responds:

Yep, it's due to a limitation of the double precision floating point numbers used, that's the deepest it can go without using arbitrary precision numbers!

I like the mechanics a lot and there are good levels to use them in. If I were making this game, I would try to work the tutorial into the game and slowly introduce the mechanics, the tutorial already feels like the real game to me anyway since theres more of a feeling of progression. The mechanics of these games may be to advanced to be in this medium, the control scheme feels like its out of a platinum game.

platformalist responds:

Hi WorthlessProtoplasm! I think you've commented on some of my other games, thanks for playing this one too! :)

I'd be tempted in the future to built custom levels for it, along with the procedurally generated ones, so people can get the best of both. Alternately, to limit the player to one superjump, and ignore the ammo count altogether. It's so interesting how each mechanic added often detracts from an existing gameplay element, while adding another one. So making it too easy to navigate the screen removes from the platforming element, but might add to the puzzle element. Huh.

Thanks for giving it a try, I appreciate the feedback! :)

ya I dont get why they didnt accept this entry, sure its broken as hell, but I doubt the standards for a sonic hacking contest can be very high.

Thanks m8! I tried being a jerk in this game and thus I was a jerk to you guys by making a crappy game.
Thanks for playing!

interesting mechanics but its very hard to actually do anything.

platformalist responds:

Hi WorthlessProtoplasm! Glad you think the mechanics are interesting, at least. :P Sorry the gameplay didn't stick for you! Thanks for playing. :)

theres too many games on here that are just peoples first time in unity, id recommend itch.io for that kinda thing untill you figure things out. Newgrounds has higher standards.

CodeCapsule responds:

Ok ,I understand now ,I will upload games when they have more content and better quality .

thanks for telling me ,I am a newbie to newgrounds .

pretty cool, reminds me of castlevania design where the most obvious path at first glance is constantly bombarded. the mechanics are also cool but i havent played a hat in time so i dont know how much of that was original, great demake either way. also what other people saying about the jumps are sticky just sounds like it doesn't really mean anything, the mechanics are cool and done well which is most important.

platformalist responds:

Hi WorthlessProtoplasm!

The behavior of the hookshot is quite different than A Hat in Time, tbh. Their hookshot is a grab-and-swing mechanic, while mine is more of a latch-and-pull. They also use balloons for fancy jumps, and birds with danger-vision zones. So yeah, a lot of it pays homage to the original game, but it's implemented differently because, well, theirs is a 3D commercial release, and mine is a lil 2D jam game! :)

I'm glad you had a good time with it, and thanks for the feedback! :)

done well for what it is.

2Mickennxtre68 responds:

Thanks a lot, I really appreciate that.

you could try adding a parallax background.

Christian-Reyes responds:

Thank you very much! : D

I like games like Braid and Portal.
